GENERAL FUNCTION:
This role encompasses a diverse array of responsibilities associated with the origination of residential first mortgage loans through external referrals. You will be expected to meet the performance standards and objectives set forth by management regarding mortgage loan sales and cross-selling initiatives. You will take full ownership of the residential mortgage loan process from application through to closing.
It is essential to be responsible and accountable for risk management by openly sharing insights and concerns, while adhering to established policies and procedures. You will be committed to ensuring that all actions and behaviors contribute positively to the customer experience. While working within the Bank's risk framework, you will achieve results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting various types of risks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish and nurture referral relationships (including real estate agents, builders, and personal contacts).
- Stay informed about Fifth Third Mortgage Company's policies and operational procedures.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of available loan products, processing protocols, and underwriting guidelines.
- Adhere to established protocols for escalating exceptions.
- Gather applicant information by completing the necessary forms electronically.
- Utilize technology for communication, accessing daily rates, applicant credit reports, and transmitting loan information.
- Collect required documentation from applicants and ensure timely submission of loan packages as directed by management.
- Oversee the loan pipeline from origination to closing and complete necessary management reports.
- Provide timely updates and progress reports to branches and applicants.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while managing expectations of applicants and support staff.
- Participate in all Consumer Lending meetings as required by management.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory; a four-year college degree is preferred.
- Familiarity with conventional and/or government lending guidelines.
- Understanding of residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures.
- Knowledge of federal regulations governing real estate lending.
- Demonstrated organizational capabilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and provide excellent customer service.
- Competency in computer applications.
- Basic sales techniques.
- A strong desire to succeed in a competitive landscape.
- This position requires registration under the S.A.F.E. Act through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS).
