Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing clinical and administrative support to staff, patients, and administrators for all matters related to the lifecycle management of medical equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and work effectively with other facility support departments to ensure seamless operation of medical equipment.
  • Maintain functional knowledge of relevant safety codes and standards, including The Joint Commission, National Fire Protection Association, and Food and Drug Administration.
  • Document all work performed in the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Apply basic networking principles to resolve medical system communication issues.
  • Collaborate with Logistics and Contracting to procure parts and services.
  • Investigate, remediate, and document Repairable Medical Device recalls and safety alerts.
  • Maintain knowledge of the state of the art in medical technology, including scientific advances, network protocols, and vendor changes.
  • Provide training and education to medical technology end users and clinical staff.
  • Manage installation or upgrade projects for medical devices and systems.
Requirements
  • United States Citizenship: Must be a citizen of the United States.
  • Experience and Education: Associates degree in Biomedical Electronics Technology, Biomedical Equipment Technology, or Biomedical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field, and two years of experience as a Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist, Biomedical Equipment Technician, Field Service Engineer, Medical Equipment Repairer, or Information Technology Specialist.
  • Grade Determinations: GS-07, GS-09, and GS-11 experience and knowledge requirements.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position with a standard work schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm. Telework and virtual work arrangements are not available for this position.
