Job Summary

This position is an exciting opportunity to work as a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist in the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a key member of the Diagnostic Imaging team, you will be responsible for performing computed tomography procedures and examinations to assist radiologists in establishing diagnoses and treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform computed tomography of the head, neck, spine, chest, and body, with and without the use of contrast materials.
  • Conduct routine radiographic exams and advanced imaging examinations, including cardiac angiography, brain perfusions, and virtual colonography.
  • Operate all computed tomography equipment and assist radiologists in biopsy, drainage, microwave ablation, and peripheral vascular procedures.
  • Perform peripheral and visceral CT angiography of the neurological, cardiovascular, abdominal systems, and extremities.
  • Maintain proficiency on 3D reconstruction techniques and practice radiation safety to reduce exposure to patients, staff, and self.
Requirements
  • Certification in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Radiography (ARRT) (R).
  • Advanced ARRT certification in computed tomography (CT) is required for assignments that include CT scans.
  • Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months in duration in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
  • Ability to stand and work while wearing a lead apron for possibly long periods of time.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in a health care setting, and you may be exposed to infection and possible contagious diseases. Standard precautions and isolation techniques will be employed as indicated.
