Cellar Technician Job Description

At Okanagan Specialty Fruits, Inc., we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Cellar Technician to join our team. As a key member of our cider production team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our cellar and the production of high-quality cider.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Cider Operations Manager to meet production goals and objectives.
  • Participate in the innovation team to help with blending decisions on new and existing products.
  • Receive, execute, and document work orders and cleaning procedures.
  • Clean, sanitize, and return all equipment and tools used for the day to their proper storage area.
  • Learn and operate processing equipment.
  • Complete preventive maintenance when needed.
  • Count and manage inventoried items.
  • Prepare shipments for delivery.
  • Operate a forklift to move apple bins, pallets, barrels, and other equipment.
  • Assist at public beer/wine/cider tasting festivals.
  • Work in a safe manner and participate in safety meetings.
Requirements:
  • 1+ years of experience in wine, cider, or beer production, or equivalent experience in food production, agriculture, manufacturing, or other STEM fields.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn new equipment.
  • Experience working at least two harvests.
  • Passion for finding efficiency and improving processes.
  • Highly detail-oriented and able to communicate effectively.
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Open-minded and willing to share ideas.
  • Able to perform under stressful conditions.
  • Certified or able to obtain certification on a forklift and scissor lift.
  • Able to lift 60 lbs. and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work in cold, hot, and wet environments.
