About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our first line of defense risk management program for a line of business or staff agency. As an Executive Risk Management Specialist, you will develop and implement risk management frameworks to ensure the effective identification, measurement, monitoring, and control of risks associated with business activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain first line of defense controls, risk programs, and frameworks for line of business or staff agency
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of governance frameworks, including internal and external controls
  • Manage the development of quality standards, operating policies, and procedures, and direct the implementation of approved changes
  • Identify risk and quality control improvements and provide support for major initiatives as appropriate
  • Partner with Senior Leaders in Audit, Compliance, and Risk Management to provide input on control designs that address strategic, operational, financial, and regulatory risks
  • Responsible for the governance, administration of compliance and operational documents, and operating procedures
  • Stay current on regulatory environment and new developments, and develop and recommend action plans for initiatives with regulatory impact
  • Establish and monitor key performance and risk indicators/metrics for line of business or staff agency to assist with early identification of risk trends as first line of defense
  • Lead a team of professionals who perform overall assessments of operational risks and controls, and conduct testing and analyses to identify, validate, and manage emerging risk exposures
  • Implement second line of defense risk management programs in accordance with established roles and responsibilities
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree
  • 10 years of experience with a focus on Business Management, Operations, Risk Management, Audit, Control, or Reporting required
  • 6 years of people leadership experience in building, managing, and/or developing high-performing teams required
  • Experience collaborating with key resources and stakeholders, influencing decisions, and managing work to achieve strategic goals required
  • Executive-level business acumen in the areas of business operations, industry practices, and emerging trends required
  • Strong knowledge of industry-related regulatory requirements and operational risk concepts
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully navigate and operate across multiple levels of an organization
What We Offer

USAA offers a competitive salary range of $216,750 - $390,150, based on experience and market position. Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

Long Term Incentive Plan: Cash payment for Executive level roles only, representing a cash payment which is both time and performance based.
