Position Summary
The General Surgery Department at the University of North Carolina is seeking applications for a full-time Board Certified/Eligible Consultant in General Surgery to contribute to the development of our Hillsborough Campus.
The selected candidate will join a newly established Section of General Surgery within the Division of Acute Care and Trauma Surgery.
The primary focus of this role will be to manage the strategic expansion and operational oversight of programs at Hillsborough, collaborating with various divisions within the Department of Surgery.
The facility at UNC Health Care Hillsborough is a community hospital that integrates a community-oriented atmosphere with advanced medical procedures, including robotic surgery.
The campus features a medical office building equipped with clinical spaces and procedure rooms alongside the acute care hospital.
As the Emergency Room volume continues to increase, there are plans for expanded operating room capacity, enhancing our ability to provide both emergent and elective surgical services.
The Department of Surgery is eager to enhance our presence at Hillsborough Hospital and is in search of a dynamic leader to help establish and grow this program.
Key Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with departmental leadership to formulate and execute a strategic vision for the growth of the Department of Surgery at the Hillsborough campus.
2. Oversee daily operations, including management of staff, trainees, and faculty at Hillsborough Hospital, ensuring effective call coverage and clinic operations.
3. Maintain open communication with campus leadership and the Department of Surgery to foster collaboration and operational efficiency.
Candidates should demonstrate excellence in clinical practice, education, and/or research, supported by relevant experience and references.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills are essential, with an emphasis on teamwork and fostering a collegial environment.
Experience in developing clinical programs and a focus on Acute Care General Surgery is highly desirable.
