Job Description

At Dream Electric LLC, we are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to lead our commercial project estimating efforts. The successful candidate will be responsible for determining potential costs and profitability for commercial projects of various sizes and applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet with customers to discuss potential projects and provide detailed estimates.
  • Analyze commercial blueprints to generate project estimates, considering drawings, specifications, material and equipment requirements, labor needs, schedule, and miscellaneous costs.
  • Determine the potential profitability of electrical projects to inform management's bidding decisions.
  • Research market prices for project materials and equipment.
  • Communicate with clients to determine the scope of each project.
  • Identify ways to improve cost-estimating procedures to reduce inconsistencies between estimated and actual project costs.
  • Prepare and submit competitive project bids in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Maintain a backlog report and award status report of all estimated projects.
  • Participate in forecasting exercises with the operations manager, project coordinator, and accountant to ensure necessary backlog and desired growth are achieved.
  • Prepare detailed estimates to ensure proper project management.
  • Resolve discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information for any issue that arises due to conflict between scope of work and estimate.
  • Build relationships with key vendors, including subcontractors, suppliers, and engineers.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in electrical estimating required.
  • Large and small commercial project experience required.
