Infection Prevention Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Infection Preventionist to join our team at Johns Hopkins Medicine. As an Infection Preventionist, you will play a critical role in identifying and investigating sources of infection and improving procedures and technologies to prevent future infections throughout the Johns Hopkins Health System.
About the RoleThe Infection Preventionist will assist with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Infection Prevention program within Howard County Medical Center. This includes implementing the Infection Prevention program in your area of responsibility to drive change, continuously evaluating all policies, procedures, and practices relating to infection prevention and control within the institution, and conducting surveillance, providing education, leading performance improvement initiatives, and managing outbreaks and exposures.
Responsibilities- Assist with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Infection Prevention program within Howard County Medical Center.
- Implement the Infection Prevention program in your area of responsibility to drive change.
- Continuously evaluate all policies, procedures, and practices relating to infection prevention and control within the institution.
- Conduct surveillance, provide education, lead performance improvement initiatives, and manage outbreaks and exposures.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 2+ years of related work experience, which includes Infection Control, Nursing, Microbiology, Epidemiology, Health Education, or Public Health.
- Experience as an Infection Preventionist at a hospital is highly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree required in Nursing, Microbiology, Epidemiology, or a related discipline.
- Master's degree in Public Health or a related discipline preferred.
- Ability to obtain Certification in Infection Control (CIC) within 2 years of hire.
