Infection Prevention Specialist

About the RoleThe Infection Preventionist will be responsible for assisting with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Infection Prevention program within Howard County Medical Center. This includes implementing evidence-based infection prevention practices, conducting surveillance, providing education, leading performance improvement initiatives, and managing outbreaks and exposures.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Infection Prevention program
- Implement evidence-based infection prevention practices
- Conduct surveillance and provide education to staff
- Lead performance improvement initiatives and manage outbreaks and exposures
- Interact effectively with personnel in a wide range of hospital and university positions
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 2+ years of related work experience, including Infection Control, Nursing, Microbiology, Epidemiology, Health Education, or Public Health
- Experience as an Infection Preventionist at a hospital is highly preferred
- Bachelor's degree required in Nursing, Microbiology, Epidemiology, or a related discipline
- Master's degree in Public Health or a related discipline preferred
- Ability to obtain Certification in Infection Control (CIC) within 2 years of hire
