Job Title: Healthcare Access Specialist

Estimated Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 per year

About the Job:

The Healthcare Access Specialist is responsible for ensuring smooth patient flow and registration processes at Mercy Medical Center's Emergency Department. This role involves verifying insurance requirements, collecting upfront payments, and accurately documenting demographic and financial information in the Meditech system.

Key Responsibilities:

* Verify patient insurance coverage and collect co-pays and deductibles as required
* Ensure accurate data entry into the Meditech system, including demographic and financial information
* Coordinate bed assignments and maintain death books, releasing information to funeral homes as needed

Requirements:

* High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred
* Medical terminology skills essential
* Prior experience in medical office, hospital, or billing settings an advantage
