Job Title: Lactation Counselor Certified

Cleveland Clinic is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Lactation Counselor Certified to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide expert lactation support and education to new mothers, promoting optimal breastfeeding and maternal health.

Job Summary:

The Lactation Counselor Certified will work closely with our nursing staff, management, physicians, and external educational vendors to provide evidence-based lactation instruction, support, and anticipatory guidance to new mothers. This role will also involve education and assistance to help mothers prevent and handle common lactation concerns, as well as provide education focused on Healthy Start services/programming and safe sleep practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide lactation support and education to new mothers, promoting optimal breastfeeding and maternal health.
  • Work closely with nursing staff, management, physicians, and external educational vendors to ensure seamless care.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community resources to support lactating mothers.
  • Participate in ongoing Baby Friendly Hospital initiatives and provide support and coaching for other caregivers.
  • Refer mothers to the IBCLC, patient's physician, nurse, and community resources as necessary.
Requirements:
  • Certified Lactation Counselor through an accredited program.
  • Experience working with breastfeeding mothers/infants.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Reliable transportation required.
Working Conditions:
