Food Safety Quality Assurance Technician I

Position Overview:
This role serves as an introductory position within the Food Safety and Quality Assurance sector. The technician will gather technical data regarding ingredients, products, and packaging. Analytical evaluations will be performed to ensure that incoming materials, in-process items, and final products comply with established food safety and quality benchmarks. Effective communication with Production Team Members, Production Leadership, and FSQA Leadership is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Comply with safety protocols and promote a culture of safety among colleagues.
- Advocate for Food Safety and Quality Standards.
- Support Human Safety, Food Safety, and High-Quality Standards across the organization.
- Document food safety and quality concerns accurately and relay them promptly to the FSQA Supervisor, Production Supervisor, or FSQA Manager.
- Conduct inspections during production and after sanitation to ensure adherence to established criteria, including but not limited to Identity Preserved products such as Kosher, Organic, Gluten Free, Non-GMO Project Verified, and Halal.
- Audit production and packaging processes, documenting findings for compliance verification.
- Collect and evaluate ingredient and product samples against analytical, physical, chemical, and sensory specifications.
- Inspect metal detection and weight control systems.
- Maintain records of finished goods and work-in-progress data.
- Identify out-of-specification results and communicate them to production teams promptly.
- Place non-conforming products on hold and complete necessary documentation.
- Report food safety, employee safety, and quality concerns as required.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
New hires at Level I Technician are expected to complete the Food Safety Professional Certification, Track 1 training within six months of employment.

Education and Experience:
A High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory. Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English is required. Vocational training in Quality Systems is preferred, along with experience in Food Manufacturing or Quality Assurance.
