Position Overview:
The Circulating RN collaborates with the surgical team, including the surgeon and anesthesia provider, to ensure a safe surgical environment for patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to established protocols for medication administration, ensuring compliance with the five rights of medication administration.
- Communicate relevant patient information to inform the healthcare team about patients' needs and care plans.
- Document observations, findings, and actions taken to ensure continuity of care.
- Continuously assess patients' conditions, monitoring vital signs and physical findings to provide appropriate care.
- Coordinate surgical patient care in the perioperative setting.
- Establish a safe environment for surgical patients, minimizing the risk of injury.
- Evaluate treatments and procedures that contribute to the physiological stability of surgical patients.
- Provide support to the surgical team, including surgeons and surgical technologists, in delivering quality care.
- Maintain the highest standards of sterile technique.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in nursing or equivalent training; a bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred.
- Minimum of 6 months of experience as an RN in an acute care setting; 1-2 years of operating room experience is preferred.
- Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Kansas.
- ACLS and PALS certification required within 6 months of hire.
- CNOR certification is preferred.
Skills Required:
- Knowledge of surgical procedures and protocols.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in computer applications such as Word, Outlook, and Windows.
