Job Overview:

The role involves executing both routine and specialized maintenance and repair tasks on various vehicles, including buses and vans, in accordance with Transdev's established standards.

This encompasses a range of responsibilities such as tire servicing, responding to repair requests, and conducting thorough visual inspections of vehicles, among other assigned duties. The position requires minimal supervision, allowing for the handling of more complex issues while referring particularly intricate problems to senior staff. A strong emphasis on safety is paramount in all tasks performed.

What We Provide:
Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 6 AM to 12 AM
Compensation: Starting wage range of $20.00 to $22.00 per hour, depending on experience and ASE certifications
ASE Bonus: $0.25 per hour
Master Certified Bonus: $2.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities:


Ensure the safety and maintenance of vehicles for our customers by performing limited repairs with moderate oversight on both basic and advanced maintenance tasks. This includes replacing light bulbs, fuses, lenses, wiper blades, belts, hoses, batteries, checking fluid levels, changing fluids and filters, and lubricating components.

Conduct mechanical repairs under moderate supervision, including brake repairs and inspections, engine tune-ups, suspension work, drive train repairs, transmission clutches, and other related tasks.

Maintain comprehensive records of all maintenance activities performed on vehicles, including parts and supplies utilized. Ensure accurate completion of work orders and maintain records of parts usage while ordering necessary repair parts from designated suppliers.
Assist senior technicians with preventative maintenance, safety inspections, and annual maintenance checks at scheduled intervals based on time and usage.
Remove and replace engine, transmission, and differential assemblies under the guidance of a Maintenance Technician III.
Diagnose and accurately perform all aspects of vehicle and equipment repair with moderate supervision.
Alert supervisors to potentially hazardous equipment and the corrective actions taken.
Review completed work prior to release and seek necessary approvals.
Assist with road calls and emergency services as required.
Adhere to Transdev's standards, policies, and procedures.
Safely move vehicles between job sites and work areas.
Repair and maintain all shop equipment.
Clean vehicles as requested or required.
Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
A high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair is advantageous.
A Class B CDL with passenger endorsement is required (or expected within three months of hire).
A state inspection license may be required.
ASE Certification is preferred, with participation in the ASE testing program expected within one year (aiming for three ASE certifications within 12 months of hire).

Experience:
Intermediate mechanical aptitude with three years of automotive or diesel repair experience preferred, or equivalent education and experience.
ASE brake certification in heavy-duty brakes or higher is desirable, with training available.
Compliance with state DOT standards for motor vehicle inspections and safety is essential.
A valid driver's license is required.
Intermediate problem-solving skills are necessary.
Comfort with using hand tools is expected.
Strong customer service and communication skills are essential.
The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team is important.
Maintain an organized workshop and a clean working environment.
Regular and predictable attendance is a crucial function of the role.
Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for customer use.
Possess an adequate inventory of mechanic tools to perform all assigned duties, maintaining them in a clean and safe manner.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
The role is set in a maintenance shop environment characterized by dust, dirt, and grease.
Ability to work in various weather conditions is required.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Ability to work in a crouched position or on one's back, utilizing a mechanic's creeper, beneath motor vehicle equipment.
