Pet Groomer

We are seeking a skilled Pet Groomer to join our team at Tractor Supply Company. As a Pet Groomer, you will be responsible for providing exceptional grooming services to dogs, using your knowledge of canine characteristics and grooming styles and techniques.

• Deliver world-class customer satisfaction by providing personalized grooming services to dogs.
• Answer phone calls and schedule appointments in a timely and efficient manner.
• Assist in generating business by calling existing and new customers, scheduling appointments, and following up with reminders.
• Book appointments and greet pets as they arrive, ensuring a welcoming and safe environment.
• Report any accidents or injuries to the Store Manager promptly and follow established safety procedures.
• Follow bathing and grooming procedures as outlined, ensuring the highest level of quality and safety.
• Clean ears, clip nails, and perform other necessary services to maintain the health and well-being of dogs.
• Adhere to customer instructions for clipping patterns and styles, ensuring a personalized experience for each pet.
• Clip dog hair according to determined patterns, using electric clippers, combs, and shears.
• Comb and shape dogs' coats to achieve a clean and healthy appearance.
• Talk to dogs in a calm and soothing manner, using non-physical techniques to keep them relaxed.
• Complete and maintain customer and company forms accurately and efficiently.
• Properly and completely fill out required grooming forms, ensuring all necessary information is included.
• Observe all safety rules and procedures, adhering to safety standards at all times.
• Sweep, vacuum, clean, and sanitize cages, tubs, and other areas as needed to maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Assist in store operations as needed, providing support to the team and ensuring a smooth workflow.

• Minimum of 1-year experience grooming or styling pets, with a strong understanding of canine characteristics and grooming styles and techniques.
• Must be comfortable working with dogs and cats, and able to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all pets.
• Must provide own tools (clippers, blades, shears) or be willing to purchase required tools.
• High school diploma or equivalent, with successful completion of Paragon Level 1 & 2 training provided by Petsense.
• Ability to read, write, and count accurately, with strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to operate and use all grooming tools and equipment, including bathing tubs, brushes, steel combs, barber shears, scissors, clippers, driers, and bathing products.
• Ability to work varied hours, days, nights, and weekends as business needs dictate, with a strong commitment to customer satisfaction and team collaboration.

The working environment is favorable, generally working inside with moderate noise. Exposure to wet conditions, particularly when bathing dogs, is common. Exposure to cats and dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments is also expected. Exposure to sharp grooming instruments, perfumed shampoos and soaps, pets, and pet waste is a normal part of the job.

• Ability to move and transfer live animals, equipment, and merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand and maintain a stationary position for up to 8 hours while grooming animals.
• Ability to frequently move for 4-8 hours per day around the salon to groom animals, clean, and maintain the salon.
• Ability to utilize grooming instruments, including shears and dryers.
• Ability to frequently lift or reach merchandise overhead.
• Ability to bend, kneel, and squat frequently to position oneself to groom animals, clean shelves, and stock merchandise and equipment.
• Ability to constantly operate store equipment, such as computers, cash registers, and other store equipment.
• Ability to read, write, and count accurately to complete all documentation.
• Ability to utilize strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with team members and customers.
• Ability to successfully complete all required training.
