As an Electrical Control Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in developing, directing, and coordinating projects for Amcor Flexibles North America, which involve both mechanical and electrical components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design electrical control systems for industrial automation equipment (480V and below)
  • Evaluate and propose alternative components and automation strategies to enhance efficiency, product quality, performance, and cost-effectiveness
  • Perform programming (new and modifications) of control devices, including Allen Bradley PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, Servos, and Vision Cameras
  • Develop electrical specifications for new equipment and ensure compliance by working closely with vendors throughout the quotation, design, and build phases
  • Develop, manage, and support capital projects, including conducting Root Cause Analysis and implementing corrective actions
  • Develop and evaluate alternate solutions to narrow down and define project scope
  • Coordinates, prepares and/or assembles the engineering package/project documentation for each assigned project
  • Provides the purchasing services for project materials required
  • Coordinates project costs, project scheduling, and supplying pertinent communication for projects that may vary in terms of scope and responsibilities

Requirements:

  • Determine materials required for each project including reviewing potential vendors, issuing purchase requisitions and expediting delivery when necessary
  • Interfaces with people, departments, and/or companies to ensure that equipment is safe, made on schedule and to specification
  • Coordinates or assists with installation, checkout, start-up and training as necessary
  • Provides engineering support and troubleshooting to the plant when machine breakdown issues cannot be solved by maintenance
  • Actively participates on Continuous Improvement projects and leads teams as requested
  • Demonstrates growing knowledge of engineering standards and shows ability to apply concepts and theories to resolve increasingly complex issues

Project Management:

  • Begins acting as project or team leader with increasing ownership of projects
  • Shows increased ability in performing cost analysis and managing project costs

Decision Making and Analysis:

  • Is not afraid to make decisions, seek clarification on conflicting data and consult with colleagues
  • Keeps manager and colleagues informed on projects

A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering field - with 3- 6 years of experience. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing verbiage, process, tools, etc. Understanding of business processes and process improvement. Travel approximately up to 10% of the time to support plants. Ability to support onsite 24 hours on call schedule during project go lives.
