Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled A&P Mechanic II to join our team at Safran. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling and testing Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) and its subassemblies, ensuring quality, service, and efficiency objectives are met.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary duties and responsibilities for this position include:

  • Assembling and testing APU modules and engines using hand tools, measuring equipment, and balancing and grinding machines.
  • Disassembling modules for inspection purposes using hand tools and cleaning chemicals.
  • Performing all required testing, including Automated Test Procedure (ATP), on all APU's.
  • Collaborating with Engineering in failure analysis when needed.
  • Installing necessary instrumentation per requirements flowed down from engineering on both development and flight test engines.
  • Recognizing potential problems and recommending solutions.
  • Supporting other areas with general manufacturing needs as required and performing other tasks as needed.
  • Working in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Assisting Quality personnel with in-process inspections as required.
  • Operating forklifts and remote controlled cranes within training requirements, performing safely as required to ensure personnel safety and product integrity.
  • Participating in the company Quality and EHS programs.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A high school diploma or general education diploma (GED) and 2 to 5 years of related experience and/or training.
  • Airframe and Powerplant certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings and Manufacturing instructions.
  • Working knowledge of the engine design and ability to assist in analysis with both manufacturing and design engineering.
Knowledge of Basic Level Microsoft Office programs: Outlook, Word, and Excel is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee is required to sit, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.


The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, may frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.


  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
