Position Overview: We are in search of a Registered Nurse (RN) with a strong background in Maternal and Public Health to take on the role of Family Advocacy Nurse (FAN).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with local healthcare facilities to identify women and families in need of education on infant and toddler care, health and development, parenting techniques, and the effects of family violence on the 0-3 age group, while also providing support for military family life challenges.
  • Deliver home visitation services to military families focusing on infant and toddler care, health and development, parenting skills, breastfeeding support, and addressing the impact of family violence in the 0-3 age demographic.
  • Implement community interventions and educational programs aimed at enhancing family dynamics in partnership with the Outreach Manager.
  • Work alongside other service organizations such as Airman and Family Readiness, SARC, and Safe Kids to offer family enrichment initiatives to the AFB community.
  • Facilitate FAN involvement in Pediatrics clinics, Tricare referral management, and family practice clinics to improve screening participation.
  • Assist in initiating breastfeeding and provide lactation consulting for new mothers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of two years' experience (within the last four years) as a Community Health Nurse and/or in Maternal Child Health nursing, or direct experience in child abuse and/or domestic violence. Experience in home visitation is advantageous.
  • BLS Certification (required prior to employment commencement).

Essential Skills:

  • BSN, Registered Nurse (licensed in any state).
  • Over two years of experience in community health or child-focused medicine.
  • BLS certification (preferred).
