Position Overview

The Loss Control Consultant plays a vital role within our Commercial Lines team, offering a comprehensive suite of risk consulting services. This includes conducting on-site evaluations and performing thorough research to assess information, hazards, and exposures, ultimately leading to informed recommendations for mitigating potential risks, losses, and costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver loss control services by performing safety assessments, evaluating risk history, and assisting clients in enhancing their loss control initiatives.
  • Advise clients on strategies to mitigate hazards, thereby reducing or preventing losses, and encourage the implementation of these recommendations.
  • Promote Pekin's loss control offerings and conduct educational seminars on loss prevention.
  • Effectively manage workload within a designated territory by prioritizing, planning, and scheduling tasks efficiently.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide underwriting teams with detailed technical loss control reports and recommendations to facilitate accurate pricing and account selection.
  • Compile written reports outlining findings and suggestions for rectifying unsafe or hazardous conditions.
  • Collaborate with client employees to ensure adherence to safety standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Maintain productive relationships with underwriting and claims departments.
  • Establish and nurture strong business relationships with clients.
  • Inspect client properties to assess physical conditions and promote safety initiatives aimed at preventing accidents.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
  • Ability to maintain a positive image and foster strong relationships.
  • Adaptability to changes in responsibilities, processes, timelines, and organizational culture.
  • Skill in presenting information and addressing inquiries from groups of managers, clients, and the public.
  • Understanding of complex policies and procedures.
  • Capacity to analyze, organize, and prioritize tasks while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
Education and Experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Professional designations such as Risk Management (ARM), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) are encouraged.
Working Conditions
  • This position allows for remote work.
  • Willingness to travel to clients within the assigned territory is required.
  • A valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record are necessary.
  • Attendance at occasional meetings may be required.
