Job Title: Bus Driver Training Program Intern

Job Summary:

The Savannah-Chatham County Schools Transportation Department is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to participate in our Bus Driver Training Program Internship. As a Bus Driver Training Program Intern, you will have the opportunity to learn the essential skills and knowledge required to become a qualified school bus driver.

Key Responsibilities:

* Participate in classroom instruction and hands-on training to learn county and state laws, student management, loading and unloading students, radio procedures, emergency and accident procedures, special education laws, and overview of expressway driving
* Develop skills in operating a school bus safely and efficiently
* Learn how to perform pre-trip inspections and post-trip inspections
* Gain experience in submitting reports and corrective time sheets in a timely manner
* Participate in required training meetings and attend to all duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements:

* High school diploma or equivalent
* Valid state driver's license (must be at least 21 years of age to obtain license)
* Ability to lift equipment and/or student weighing 40 pounds
* Written and oral communication skills
* Pre-employment physical examination
* Ability to pass a background check

Working Conditions:

* Work is typically performed in a school bus environment with frequent exposure to weather conditions
* May require working in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and priorities
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
