Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Behavioral Technician to join our team at Teach In Hawaii. As a Behavioral Technician, you will play a critical role in providing behavioral intervention services to students with severe, challenging behavior. Your primary responsibility will be to implement ABA programs and BIPs with fidelity, using appropriate behavior management techniques to promote positive behavior change.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement ABA programs and BIPs with fidelity, using appropriate behavior management techniques to promote positive behavior change.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with students, providing a supportive and non-judgmental environment to build trust and increase social interaction.
  • Prompt safe and socially acceptable replacement behaviors, fading prompts appropriately to promote successful and independent responding.
  • Collect, record, and maintain various program and behavioral data, including A-B-C, count, frequency, duration, latency, interresponse time, or event- and interval-based recording.
  • Provide instructional support tasks, in accordance with the IEP and/or ABA program, using evidence-based practices for individuals with ASD and other developmental disabilities.
  • Oversee independent study activities or small group instruction, as planned and prescribed by the licensed professional, providing clear instruction, modeling, checking for understanding, guided and independent practice, feedback, and monitoring.
  • Instruct, assist, and accompany students off campus as part of individual instructional programs, including various academic, social, vocational, daily-living, and life-skill instruction.
  • Report observations on student progress, behavior, or instructional needs to the licensed behavior analyst and teacher, providing recommendations on follow-up activities.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and other training activities to stay current on behavioral and instructional methods, strategies, and techniques.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree or higher preferred.
  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) or other nationally certified behavior analysis organization approved by law.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • One year of general experience, including direct interaction with people and ability to provide and elicit information, observe, evaluate, take action, or report accurately on different situations.
  • Two years of specialized experience, including direct contact with students/children and managing their activities while ensuring order.
  • Progressively responsible work experience providing one-to-one behavioral intervention services using appropriate behavior management practices and techniques.
