Regional RN Consultant Job Description

Elderwood Administrative Services is seeking a highly skilled Regional RN Consultant to join our team. As a transformational leader, you will be responsible for developing and expanding nursing services for our Skilled Nursing Facilities in Western New York.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical oversight to a portfolio of skilled nursing facilities in conjunction with the Chief Nursing Officer.
  • Act as a nurse mentor and advisor to facility leadership, assisting with Director of Nursing orientation and providing consultation on medical and nursing care processes.
  • Travel to various facilities, conferences, and meetings, including overnight stays, to provide support and guidance.
  • Perform hours of work based on need, including on-call and emergencies, to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
  • Provide onsite support with annual state and federal survey inspections, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies.
  • Assist with developing a plan of correction following a state or federal survey in cooperation with facility leadership.
  • Collaborate with facility leadership to develop adequate staffing patterns and ratios, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care.
  • Timely notify company leadership of events that pose potential compliance and/or litigation risk, assisting with managing, investigating, or providing follow-up education related to such events.
  • Conduct mock survey audits and perform onsite reviews of resident care and services to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and company policies.
  • Provide a verbal and/or written report of findings and recommendations for follow-up to the Administrator, Director of Nursing, and appropriate company leadership.
  • Maintain effective communication with facility leadership, reporting all observations while onsite to the Administrator and Director of Nursing.
  • Communicate routinely and effectively with the CNO, RDCS, and RDO regarding facility clinical performance, site visit schedules, survey activity, events, or other clinically relevant information.
  • Assist with nurse recruitment and retention efforts as needed or requested, participating in the interview and selection process for community nursing leadership positions.
  • Observe and emphasize safety awareness and accident prevention to facility staff.
  • Review quality measures and quality data, assisting facility leadership with development of performance improvement programs (PIPs), action plans, and review outcomes in relation to established benchmarks.
  • Assist with developing and conducting ongoing training programs for nursing and other staff in response to QAPI programs to promote quality care and survey readiness at all times.
  • Attend and participate in facility QAPI Meetings and Risk Meetings.
  • Notify the CNO, RDCS, and RDO of any concerns, including failure to follow-up on recommendations.
  • Participate in the creation, revision, and updating of policies and procedures in accordance with changes in standards of practice, state, and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with the company's business partners, including contracted consultants, vendors, and other healthcare providers and partners.
  • Submit required reports to company leadership in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Pursue goals as established by the CNO on an annual basis, working in partnership with the regional team to reach goals, meet targets, and deadlines for the mutual benefit and improvement of the quality of the facility and company.
  • Display proficiency and ability to promote and teach the INTERACT standards.
  • Participate in monthly operations meetings as scheduled.

Requirements:

  • Current registration in good standing as a Registered Nurse (RN) in state facilities assigned or ability and willingness to obtain.
  • Demonstrated evidence and experience as Director of Nursing.
  • Operational experience in LTC and SNF.
  • Knowledge of state and federal LTC regulations.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Proficiency in various computer programs, applications, electronic communications, and electronic medical records.
  • Degree in Nursing from an accredited educational institution, BSN preferred.
  • Regional Nurse Consultant experience preferred.
