Haven Behavioral Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Senior Financial Accountant to join our Corporate Office.

Our headquarters is committed to addressing a wide range of mental health issues, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, and substance use disorders. Each of our facilities is designed to foster a secure and supportive environment for individuals embarking on their journey toward improved mental well-being.

Role Responsibilities: The Senior Financial Accountant will oversee the completion of accounting functions and month-end closing activities, including balance sheet reconciliations, financial assessments, and preparation of accounting, tax, and cost report documentation.

Key Duties:

  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end closing processes in compliance with GAAP and organizational policies.
  • Prepare standard journal entries for revenue and expense accounts.
  • Conduct thorough expense reviews to ensure proper coding.
  • Create non-standard journal entries for manual accruals as necessary.
  • Assist in the preparation of Monthly Operations Reviews for various management levels.
  • Accurately and promptly prepare balance sheet account reconciliations, identifying and correcting discrepancies as needed.
  • Compile interim and year-end audit schedules and address audit inquiries for the facilities.
  • Prepare interim and year-end tax schedules and respond to related inquiries.
  • Complete property, gross receipts tax, sales/use tax, and other tax filings in accordance with regulatory timelines.
  • Gather cost reporting information for external vendors as directed.
  • Identify significant budget variances and prepare necessary corrections or accruals.
  • Analyze and communicate variances effectively.
  • Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis as required.
  • Support special projects as assigned by management.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required.

Experience Required:

  • A minimum of two years of accounting experience is essential.
  • Experience in the healthcare sector is preferred.
  • Familiarity with multi-state payroll processing (ADP experience is a plus).

  • Proficient understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the ability to apply them during month-end close, variance analysis, and balance sheet account analysis.
