Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams on projects involving work zone traffic management, intersection design, traffic signal engineering, and roadway signage and marking plans.
  • Gathering, analyzing, and interpreting demographic data and regional transportation planning information.
  • Assisting in the development or revision of specifications, plans, construction timelines, permits, and project designs.
  • Monitoring construction sites to ensure compliance with contract documents and project progress.
  • Acting as the on-site representative for projects.
  • Potentially assisting with traffic studies, corridor planning, feasibility assessments, and safety evaluations.
Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (mandatory).
  • A Professional Engineering License (PE) in NC or the ability to obtain one within two years (preferred but not required).
  • Proficiency in CADD Software, with a preference for AutoCAD/Civil3D experience.
  • Familiarity with NCSDOT/NCDPW design standards, including traffic signal design, signage and striping, ADA compliance, pavement design, work zone traffic control, and access permitting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A robust work ethic with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet various deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A valid Driver's License.
