Job Overview

The Manufacturing Team Leader is tasked with orchestrating and overseeing all production activities to fulfill scheduling demands safely and efficiently. This role involves supervising hourly coordinators and production staff while assessing and mentoring team members to enhance their performance. Additionally, the leader is expected to actively champion the SQDCME Scorecard initiatives (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Morale, and Environment) within their designated area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversees the workflow and personnel involved in the production of goods within the assigned department and shift to achieve scheduling objectives.
  • Formulates and implements production strategies to meet departmental and plant targets across all SQDCME metrics.
  • Completes the daily production agenda by allocating and scheduling staff; ensures work outcomes are met and priorities are set.
  • Drives manufacturing performance by effectively managing labor in accordance with operational needs and clearly communicating job expectations.
  • Guides, instructs, and develops production staff, ensuring they are proficient in using all machinery and tools.
  • Mentors and advises employees while enforcing process regulations, corporate policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Encourages a clean and safe working environment throughout the facility.
  • Fosters collaboration and teamwork within and across departments.
  • Regularly updates and maintains Safe Work Instructions (SWIs) and completes necessary audits.
  • Leads and promotes continuous improvement initiatives, including the ECO System.
  • Coordinates and facilitates training and onboarding for all new hires.
  • Creates cross-training plans for hourly coordinators and employees, maintaining skills matrices.
  • Performs additional job-related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred) in Business Management, Engineering, or Technology.
  • 2 - 3+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to recognize OSHA compliance issues and manage hazards effectively.
  • Capability to lead, inspire, and develop team members while fostering team dynamics.
  • Experience in implementing lean manufacturing principles, 5S, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Kronos, ADP, SAP, and other relevant business software/systems is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects concurrently.
