Histotechnologist II

We are seeking a highly skilled Histotechnologist II to join our team in the School of Medicine Campus. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures on clinical and research specimens in the histology laboratory.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare tissue samples for microscopic examination by a pathologist.
- Accession and bill specimens.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and program tissue processors.
- Perform special stain techniques, embed specimens, and prepare various staining solutions.
- Conduct quality assurance procedures, including block and slide match, and report discrepancies according to standard operating procedure.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records and provide accurate information on work conducted for client billing purposes.
- Perform related general duties, such as ordering supplies, general lab housekeeping, and maintaining safety records.
- Associate's Degree from an accredited Histotechnology program.
- Two years of laboratory experience, including some histology experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Histology, or related field experience.
The position is primarily in a laboratory environment, with exposure to toxins and infectious agents. However, the potential for personal injury or harm is minimized if established safety and health precautions are followed.
