Position Overview:
The CDL A Driver is primarily tasked with the safe, productive, and efficient operation of heavy machinery. This role may involve various activities such as pushing, compacting, grading, loading, or transporting waste or soil, and may require collaboration with other heavy equipment operators. Additionally, this position may involve working in proximity to customer vehicles and personnel.

Key Responsibilities:
The following duties are essential to the role. Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary to meet operational needs:

  • Availability for on-call duties during scheduled rotations and emergencies.
  • Skillfully operate a range of core equipment, including Dozers, Compactors, Excavators, Articulated Trucks, Loaders, and Graders for the removal, packaging, storage, or transportation of waste materials.
  • Adhere to the Operations & Maintenance Guide for both core and secondary heavy machinery.
  • Conduct daily inspections and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment.
  • Identify, manage, and dispose of hazardous materials, including but not limited to asbestos, lead-based paint, waste oil, and contaminated soil.
  • Understand and comply with OSHA safety regulations to ensure safe task execution.
  • Maintain current training and certifications relevant to licenses, permits, and job responsibilities.
  • Follow prescribed safety protocols and federal regulations regarding waste disposal methods.
  • Document the quantities of containers stored at disposal sites, detailing the types of equipment or waste managed.
  • Clean contaminated equipment or areas for reuse, utilizing appropriate cleaning agents and methods.
  • Assist in establishing containment areas prior to commencing abatement or decontamination tasks.
  • Load and unload materials into containers or onto trucks using hoists or forklifts.

Qualifications:
The following qualifications are required for this position:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess a valid, unrestricted driver's license with a strong driving record, Class A CDL is mandatory.
  • Willingness to work weekends and extended hours as necessary.
  • Ability to travel and work at remote locations as required.
  • Basic skills in mathematics, mechanics, teamwork, and troubleshooting are essential.
  • Must successfully pass a fit-for-duty physical, drug and alcohol screening, and a comprehensive background check.

Education and Experience:
The following educational background and experience are preferred:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of safety, mechanical, Hazmat, and equipment training or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in construction is advantageous but not mandatory.

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands of this role include:

  • Frequent walking on uneven terrain, standing, lifting, and communicating.
  • Occasional sitting and using hands to operate tools and controls.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
The work environment is primarily field-based, outdoors, and may involve exposure to varying temperatures for extended periods. Noise levels can range from moderate to loud. To minimize exposure to hazardous materials, employees may be required to wear protective gear, including coveralls, gloves, safety glasses, or respirators during specific tasks.
