Position Overview:
The CDL A Driver is primarily tasked with the safe, productive, and efficient operation of heavy machinery. This role may involve various activities such as pushing, compacting, grading, loading, or transporting waste or soil, and may require collaboration with other heavy equipment operators. The driver will also work in proximity to customer vehicles and personnel at job sites.

Key Responsibilities:
The following duties are essential to the role. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed:

  • Availability for on-call rotations and emergency situations.
  • Expertly operate core equipment, including Dozers, Compactors, Excavators, Articulated Trucks, Loaders, and Graders for the removal, packaging, storage, or transportation of waste materials.
  • Adhere to the Operations & Maintenance Guide for both core and secondary heavy machinery.
  • Conduct daily inspections and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment.
  • Identify and manage hazardous materials, including asbestos, lead-based paint, waste oil, and contaminated soil.
  • Understand and apply OSHA safety regulations to ensure safe operations.
  • Maintain current training and certifications related to licenses, permits, and regulatory compliance.
  • Follow safety procedures and federal regulations concerning waste disposal.
  • Document the quantities and types of waste materials disposed of at various sites.
  • Clean and prepare contaminated equipment or areas for reuse.
  • Assist in establishing containment areas prior to abatement or decontamination tasks.
  • Load and unload materials using hoists or forklifts.

Qualifications:
Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Valid Class A CDL with a strong driving record.
  • Willingness to work weekends and extended hours as necessary.
  • Ability to travel and work at remote locations as required.
  • Basic skills in math, mechanics, teamwork, and troubleshooting.
  • Successful completion of a fit-for-duty physical, drug and alcohol screening, and background check.

Education and Experience:
Applicants should possess:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of safety, mechanical, Hazmat, and equipment training.
  • Prior experience in construction is advantageous but not mandatory.

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands for this position include:

  • Frequent walking on uneven terrain, standing, lifting, and communicating.
  • Occasional sitting and using hands for handling tools and equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities, including close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
The role is primarily field-based, requiring outdoor work in varying weather conditions for extended periods. Noise levels may range from moderate to loud. To minimize exposure to hazardous materials, appropriate personal protective equipment is provided.

Salary:
$30.00 per hour
