Job Summary

The Nurse Leader serves as a key member of the healthcare team at UVA Health Northern VA & Culpeper, providing exceptional patient care and leadership. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for establishing a personalized relationship with patients and their support systems, collaborating with physicians and other team members to develop and implement individualized plans of care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care: Act as a patient advocate, implementing the interdisciplinary plan of care and ensuring the patient's needs are met.
  • Communication: Utilize effective communication tools to communicate with the interdisciplinary team and hand off patient care, ensuring seamless transitions.
  • Teamwork: Develop and maintain positive relationships with team members, providing efficient treatment of patients and resolving conflicts independently.
  • Medical Knowledge: Demonstrate medical skills to provide required patient care, including operating equipment, administering medication, and performing routine nursing care.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required, with a 4-year/Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Experience: 1 year of relevant experience preferred, with a focus on patient care and leadership.
  • Licensure: Current RN licensure in the applicable state required, with CPI certification within three months of hire required for Behavioral Health, Emergency Department, and Central Staffing and Scheduling Office (CSSO).
  • Additional Skills: Ability to perform basic nursing skills on groups of patients, assume charge responsibility, multitask, and prioritize quickly, administer medication utilizing the five rights, and communicate verbally and in written form.
Physical Demands

The job requires constant standing, frequent walking, and bending/stooping, with proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills, attention to detail, and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs, with the use of Safe Handling Equipment as needed.
