Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Family Support Specialist I to join our team at the Kentucky Department for Community Based Services. As a Family Support Specialist I, you will play a critical role in providing professional services to the public, reviewing and determining eligibility for assistance programs, and utilizing formal training to make informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interview clients for Basic Public Assistance programs and gather required documentation.
  • Participate in formal and on-the-job training and observe other staff members.
  • Track processing deadlines for timely case activity and case hearings.
  • Identify resources and appropriate referrals for clients.
  • Operate computer terminals and personal computers, prepare and maintain case records, and enter case information into the system.
Requirements
  • Experience working with the public and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good time management and organizational skills, with the ability to work well under pressure.
  • A willingness to work as part of a team and contribute to the success of the department.
Working Conditions

This position performs job duties in an office setting and/or visits clients in their homes. The probationary period for this job is 6 months, except as provided in KRS.
