  • Provide guidance and support to junior editors and writers to help them improve their skills.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in print journalism.
  • Work closely with the production team to ensure timely and accurate publication of print content.
  • Meet production requirements and be well-versed in all aspects of the print process.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a newsroom environment.
  • Excellent news judgment and copy-editing skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong understanding of digital content adaptation for print audiences.
  • Knowledge of print display type and digital/SEO-driven display type.
  • Ability to write strong print headlines and captions.
  • Collaborative spirit and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Effective and efficient proofing of pages.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with necessary technical skills for producing the paper.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with a variety of subject areas, including international, business, and other reporting desks.
  • Desire to stay in this position for at least 2 years.
