The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude or a passion for hands-on work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver precise product information, including pricing, availability, and lead times to meet customer needs.
- Direct complex customer inquiries to the appropriate service representative for resolution.
- Generate quotes and sales orders using the primary business system software.
- Access supplier internet portals to gather current product details.
- Follow up with customers to provide updated delivery dates and order statuses.
- Adhere to established work processes.
- Escalate issues to the relevant management or technical teams.
- Maintain accurate customer information, including contacts and order preferences.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to understand requests and accurately process sales orders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook for communication with customers and vendors.
- Ability to effectively utilize internet resources to obtain necessary information.
- Basic knowledge of distribution or manufacturing software related to sales order entry, inventory status, and customer account management; experience in an Oracle environment is preferred.
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality customer service in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Capacity to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
- Some familiarity with industry-specific products is preferred, along with a willingness to learn.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience is preferred, particularly in Industrial Distribution.
Experience:
- One to three years of customer service experience, preferably in a call center setting.
- Experience in customer service within industrial distribution or a technical field is preferred.
Physical Requirements: The role is primarily sedentary, requiring extended periods of sitting or standing. Occasional movement may be necessary to transport items weighing no more than 15 pounds.
