Role Summary:

We are in search of a detail-oriented and proactive Estimator to enhance our Grooving & Grinding division. This pivotal role involves crafting precise and competitive bids for highway pavement grooving and grinding projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate project documentation, including plans and specifications, to ascertain project scope and requirements.
  • Conduct research to estimate labor costs, determining crew size, equipment needs, and project timelines.
  • Source quotes for materials, equipment rentals, and transportation services.
  • Develop comprehensive and competitive bid proposals that align with client expectations and company profit objectives.
  • Stay informed on industry standards, best practices, and prevailing wage rates relevant to grooving and grinding projects.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers and operations teams to ensure bids are both realistic and attainable.
  • Engage in pre-bid meetings and conduct site visits as necessary during the bidding phase.
  • Demonstrate the ability to prepare accurate and competitive bids.
  • Acquire knowledge of construction practices, including grooving and grinding techniques and equipment.
  • Exhibit the capability to work independently.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the division manager.

Qualifications:

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Previous experience in the heavy highway construction sector is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with heavy highway construction equipment and methodologies is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screenings and background checks.
