Make a Difference in the Lives of Families

The Loudoun County Health Department is seeking a dedicated Nutrition Associate to join our Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) team. As a key member of our team, you will provide paraprofessional-level nutritional assessment, education, and counseling to low-risk individuals and families in the Public Health Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct nutrition assessments and prescribe appropriate food packages to eligible participants.
  • Assess nutritional status and determine WIC program eligibility and benefits.
  • Provide patient counseling specific to individual nutritional needs and set dietary goals.
  • Provide customer service and refer clients to appropriate resources.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; two (2) years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Some experience in food production or in a nutrition program preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition/Dietetics or Public Health preferred.
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish/English preferred.
  • Previous WIC experience is highly preferred.

Special Requirements:

  • Criminal background check/fingerprinting required.
  • Vaccination or proof of vaccination as required for Health Care Personnel by the Virginia Department of Health.
  • Successful completion of State WIC Competent Professional Authority (CPA) Training Modules and State certification as a CPA by the Virginia Department of Health WIC Program must be completed successfully within one year of hire.
  • Obtain any Department-required certifications within established time frames of hire.
  • Meet WIC continuing education requirements.
  • Pass TB test within 10 days of hire.
