If so, then consider a profession with the Loudoun County Department of Family Services as a part time Public Benefits Outreach Specialist for the next chapter in your career.
The Department of Family Services administers a wide variety of programs and services that assist children, youth, families, individuals with disabilities, and older adults with basic supports and medical needs as well as services to protect children and vulnerable adults from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
All services are delivered under state and federal mandates or under local initiatives that seek to improve family stability, help families achieve safe and affordable housing, and increase self-sufficiency.

Job Summary
This part time, 20 hour per week position is responsible for providing direct community outreach to a target population, to include presenting program information, assisting customers in the application process, and fielding questions related to the application process and program requirements.
The ideal candidate should have some experience determining eligibility for or working with Public Assistance Programs, to include Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Medicaid Programs. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing an outreach plan centered on educating community partners and members about Public Assistance Programs.
Responsibilities include participating in health and community fairs and other special events in the community, creating and presenting presentations, and preparing materials for outreach events. In addition, the ideal candidate will maintain outcomes and reports from community engagement activities and work with stakeholders and Public Affairs to plan educational campaigns.
Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma; four (4) years of related experience in a customer service or social service/human services setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred: Preferred Bilingual in English and Spanish Preferred Public Benefits policy knowledge and experience processing SNAP and Medicaid applications and renewals.
Job Contingencies and Special Requirements
Special Requirements:
Evening and weekend work may be required to attend community sponsored events. Job Contingencies: This position will be located at our Leesburg office and may be assigned and required to work at an alternate work site(s) to carry out duties that support the needs of the County. Successful candidates will undergo pre-employment background checks to include criminal, credit, CPS, and DMV. Valid drivers license and good driving record.-
