Job Summary:
WAFF 48 seeks a Digital Producer/Digital Host to write content for the station's website, manage social media, and produce/host content for streaming platforms. This role includes Saturday and Sunday hours, with occasional holiday shifts. Please provide writing samples and/or demo materials with your application.
Responsibilities:
- Be a team player with a strong sense of ethics and integrity, bringing professionalism, personality, energy, confidence, and team spirit to our newsroom.
- Be a strong writer, knowledgeable about current events, and possess quick and thoughtful news judgment.
- Create content from sources beyond wires and feeds, presenting the day's news in an urgent and impactful manner.
- Produce/host content for WAFF 48's streaming and CTV platforms.
- Learn SEO best practices and their influence on web traffic.
- Be comfortable contacting public officials, law enforcement, and community members to gather information.
- Craft complete stories with comprehensive copy, high-quality pictures, and video using available resources.
- Establish daily communication with newscast producers, reporters, anchors, and meteorologists to maximize platform opportunities.
- Monitor and respond to comments and messages on social platforms in a timely manner.
- Write and edit stories involving news and sports, with a general understanding of these topics.
- Be proficient with AP Style, news writing techniques, social media, photo and video editing software, and web publishing workflows.
Qualifications:
- College degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field.
- 1 year of digital content experience.
- Some on-camera experience preferred.
- Enjoy a fast-paced environment with a desire to win.
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
