SIL Engineering Technician Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled SIL Engineering Technician to join our team at Butler America Aerospace, LLC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate interconnecting cables and harnesses based on engineering drawings.
  • Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of test bench and lab infrastructure equipment.
  • Must have the ability to attain a clearance, if needed.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to crimp and assemble connector contacts and cable assemblies to aircraft standards.
  • Ability to solder to the J-STD.
  • Ability to read and understand aircraft level wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and diagrams for metal fabrication and assemblies.
  • Familiarity with the use of test equipment, trouble shooting, and repair of wiring, and isolation.
  • Experience wiring serial data interfaces including ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, RS422, RS232, Ethernet, IEEE-488.
  • Experience installing fiberoptic cabling for reflective memory hardware.
  • Ability to properly use in a safe manner hand tools and shop equipment (Powered and Unpowered – Hand drills, wire crimpers, wire strippers, and soldering tools).
  • Physical strength – ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in confined areas for extended periods of time.
  • Familiarity of ESD and FOD practices.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience preferred.
  • High School diploma.
  • Industry: Technical 5 years minimum.
  • Military experience in related aircraft/systems maintenance and support is a plus.
