The ideal candidate is a proactive engineer with extensive experience in constructing AWS environments specifically designed for development teams. You thrive at navigating organizational boundaries, mentoring engineers, and leading through practical example. Your capacity to enhance and optimize every aspect you engage with will be vital to your success.


Key Responsibilities:

Cloud Environment Management

  • Oversee Cloud Operations: Manage daily cloud administration, including proactive planning, issue resolution, and ensuring prompt incident management within the cloud infrastructure.
  • Infrastructure Automation & Deployment: Guarantee the seamless automation and deployment of infrastructure to support the delivery of SmartFinancial services.
  • AWS Environment Management: Assume responsibility for the overall functionality and performance of the AWS environment, ensuring its reliability and efficiency.
  • Optimize Cloud Health & Costs: Continuously assess and enhance cloud health, automation processes, and cost management to drive operational excellence.
  • Maintenance & Diagnostics: Lead routine maintenance tasks and conduct diagnostic evaluations to ensure system integrity and performance.
  • Incident Management: Address ticket requests and manage escalated incidents swiftly, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
  • Documentation & Metrics: Document operational processes and maintain detailed performance metrics to support ongoing optimization and transparency.

Architecting Cloud Solutions

  • Design Cloud Infrastructures: Create and implement robust cloud infrastructures on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform, focusing on optimal database and system architecture.
  • Mentorship & Guidance: Provide mentorship and guidance on DevOps processes, methodologies, and best practices to foster the growth and development of the engineering team.
  • Adhere to Industry Standards: Ensure compliance with industry best practices in cloud administration and cybersecurity to maintain secure and efficient operations.
  • Contribute Technical Expertise: Offer insights on information system options, assess risks, and evaluate operational impacts to facilitate informed decision-making within the organization.
  • 24/7 On-Call Support: Participate in a rotating on-call schedule, responding to operational and security events to ensure continuous service availability.

Collaboration

  • Code and Script Maintenance: Maintain and enhance existing scripts (e.g., Perl, Python, Ruby) by updating code and resolving errors in the development environment.
  • Installation and Configuration Management: Oversee the installation and configuration of solutions to ensure the environment remains current and operational.
  • Collaboration with Technology & Security Teams: Work closely with technology and security counterparts to support and enhance infrastructure and security measures.
  • Enhance Application & System Processes: Partner with cross-functional teams to optimize application, system, security, and database processes, ensuring efficient operations.
  • Automate Manual Processes: Identify opportunities to automate manual processes, driving efficiency and reducing operational overhead.
  • Develop GitHub Automations: Create and maintain GitHub automations to streamline and enhance CI/CD pipelines, improving the overall development process.

Qualifications

  • AWS Certifications are advantageous.
  • 7+ years of experience in AWS Cloud and DevOps environments.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development.
  • 2+ years of experience with web applications.
  • 2+ years of experience with GitHub Automation and CI/CD integrations.
  • Experience with database migrations, maintenance, and upgrades.
  • Ability to oversee and mentor junior engineers.
  • Ability to write maintenance scripts for debugging and automating solutions.
  • Expertise in monitoring systems using CloudWatch and custom alerts.
  • Proficiency in documenting processes and monitoring performance metrics.

Familiarity with:

  • Automation / DevOps tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, CloudFormation, CI/CD, GIT, Blue/Green Deployments, GitHub.
  • Security protocols including OWASP, SSL, TLS, Encryption.
  • AWS services like EC2, IAM, RDS or Aurora, VPC, Route53, CloudWatch, S3, WAF, ECS, Fargate, Billing.
  • Programming languages and tools such as Bash, Shell, Ruby, Python, Linux (Amazon), Apache, Nginx.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package. The base salary range for this position is USD $130,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
