Job Title: Senior Medical Physicist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Medical Physicist to join our team at Weill Cornell Medical College. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging quality assurance program, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform periodic diagnostic x-ray equipment testing to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Oversee radiographic technologist QA programs within various imaging modalities
  • Prepare and maintain equipment testing records for review by regulatory agencies
  • Submit documentation for accreditation of CT and mammography facilities
  • Perform radiation shielding design, shielding integrity checks, and radiation protection surveys
  • Advise clinical and technical staff on radiation safety issues
  • Perform dose calculations for patients and research subjects
  • Stay current with Joint Commission standards, ACR accreditation requirements, and regulatory guidelines
Requirements:
  • MS or PhD in medical physics, radiological physics, or a related field
  • Minimum of four years of post-graduate clinical experience in diagnostic imaging quality assurance
  • Familiarity with regulatory and accrediting bodies (NYC-DOH, NYS-DOH, MQSA, FDA, JC, ACR)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • American Board of Radiology (ABR) or Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM) certification
  • NY State Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist License eligible
Working Conditions:

Must be physically able to transport physics testing equipment and respond to emergency communications as needed.
