Overview

Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) is seeking a distinguished adult neurologist with a specialization in epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology to take on the role of Head of the Peter Kellaway Section of Neurophysiology & Epilepsy within the Department of Neurology. This position also includes the directorship of the Baylor St. Luke's Comprehensive Epilepsy Center located in Houston, TX.

Recognized as a leading academic health science institution, BCM is celebrated for its commitment to education, research, healthcare, and community service. The Department of Neurology is nationally ranked and has strong affiliations with several healthcare systems, enhancing its reputation and clinical capabilities.

The Peter Kellaway Section of Neurophysiology & Epilepsy is responsible for overseeing academic, educational, clinical service, and research activities of its faculty, fellows, and staff. The Baylor-St. Luke's Comprehensive Epilepsy Center is a Level IV facility accredited by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC), providing a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach that includes epilepsy surgery and device implantations. The center offers ACGME-accredited fellowships in both Epilepsy and Clinical Neurophysiology, catering to adult and pediatric training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the academic, clinical, and research programs related to clinical neurophysiology and epilepsy.
  • Oversee the clinical neurophysiology program, which includes EEG, long-term EEG monitoring, intraoperative monitoring, and special studies.
  • Direct the multidisciplinary epilepsy center, ensuring high standards of care and innovative treatment options.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess a medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) and hold certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) in Neurology (adult) and in Epilepsy and/or Clinical Neurophysiology. The faculty rank is anticipated to be at the Associate Professor or Professor level, and the candidate must be eligible for medical licensure in Texas.
