Position Overview:


Blue Ridge Health is in search of a Recovery Support Advocate to join our dedicated Behavioral Health Team within the Recovery Education Center (REC).

Key Responsibilities::


The Recovery Support Advocate plays a crucial role in assisting individuals on their recovery journeys.

This position is tasked with delivering a variety of support services and interventions aimed at fostering hope, encouraging personal accountability, providing education, and promoting self-advocacy and self-determination.


Core Duties Include:
Utilizing outreach and engagement techniques that respect each individual's stage of change


Encouraging self-care by exemplifying and mentoring recovery values, attitudes, beliefs, and personal actions to inspire wellness and resilience.


Offering supportive and affirmative feedback regarding each individual's recovery through self-disclosure and unconditional acceptance to instill hope.


Demonstrating skill-building strategies by modeling and/or instructing to aid individuals in progressing towards their goals and enhancing their quality of life.


Educating on harm reduction methods through discussions about safety and risk-taking to promote healthy decision-making.

Ensuring the safety of individuals during crises in line with trauma-informed practices and effective crisis plans. Exploring alternatives to hospitalization and supporting individuals within the community whenever feasible.


Facilitating self-advocacy by helping individuals learn about their human and legal rights and supporting them in exercising those rights to empower them.


Assisting individuals in accessing community resources by fostering familiarity and connections within the local community to achieve desired integration.

Encouraging the creation of informal support networks that contribute positively to the recovery process.

Qualifications::

High school diploma or equivalent (mandatory)

Certification from an accredited Peer Support Training Program

Strong communication abilities

Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
