Job Description Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Engineer - CFD/Methods to join our team and contribute to the development of next-generation aircraft engine and aerospace technologies.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and support research and development in geometry manipulation, CFD meshing, and pre-processing for a wide range of simulations for aerospace applications.
  • Work as part of a team executing on multi-generation technology programs to enable future design advancements.
  • Maintain ownership of in-house tools and workflows for delivering CAD and meshes according to established design standards.
  • Develop advanced pre-processing techniques for complex geometries using commercial and/or in-house tools.
  • Participate in the development of high-fidelity computational analyses techniques.
  • Interface with experimentalists to ensure high-quality data acquisition.
  • Collaborate with the GE Aerospace engineering community to communicate and validate state-of-the-art modeling techniques.

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related disciplines, or Masters in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related disciplines with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, and CFD, with experience in geometry modification, meshing, and using engineering simulation/analysis tools.
  • Ability to investigate, model, and provide critical insight into complex physical flow phenomena.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Good communication skills and ability to interface with senior leaders and customers with clarity and confidence.
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to Federal Contract Provisions.

Desired Characteristics:
  • At least 3 years of industrial or research experience in turbomachinery design and analysis.
  • Outstanding programming skills, including expertise with FORTRAN, C++, and Python.
  • Passion for science and technology and clear evidence of innovation and creativity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The base pay range for this position is $80,000 - $150,000 USD Annually. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on June 1, 2024.
