Position Overview:

The Emergency Care Technician II is a vital member of the healthcare team, reporting directly to the Nurse Manager. This role involves working under the close supervision of a Registered Nurse to perform a variety of multi-skilled tasks aimed at supporting a patient-centered care model.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in delivering high-quality patient care in the Emergency Department.
  • Engage in hands-on clinical activities that contribute to positive patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure efficient operations within the department.

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a High School diploma or GED. Preferred candidates will have experience as a Patient Care Technician, nursing assistant, or be nursing students who have completed at least one Adult Medical/Surgical course with practical clinical exposure. A minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting is required, or certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

Training Requirements:

New hires must complete online course modules, phlebotomy training, and skills validation for both basic and advanced competencies within six months of employment. A passing score of 80% on each assessment is necessary to maintain employment. Additionally, successful completion of department-specific training and competency assessments is mandatory within the initial six months.

Work Environment:

This position may involve irregular hours, including rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays. Adherence to organizational policies is crucial, as violations may lead to disciplinary actions.

Licensure and Certifications:

Required certifications include a High School Diploma, BLS certification from either the Red Cross or AHA, and state certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

Physical Demands:

The role requires the ability to perform various physical tasks, including standing, walking, and lifting. Candidates must be capable of maintaining good vision and hearing acuity, as well as performing fine motor tasks effectively.
