Medical Office Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant to join our team at Northwell Health. As a Medical Office Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing administrative support to our healthcare team, ensuring the smooth operation of our medical offices.
Key Responsibilities- Administer para-professional nursing care, including preparing patients for physician visits, administering and recording laboratory tests, and assisting with patient chart organization.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate and implement patient care plans, including recording patient history for medical staff review.
- Perform measurement and screening procedures, such as height, weight, head circumference, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, audiometry, and vision testing, and record findings on patient charts.
- Collect blood and urine specimens, and assist physicians or nurses with specimen collection as required.
- Perform electrocardiograms in accordance with physician orders.
- Assist physicians and nurses with special procedures and examinations, including securing supplies, ensuring patient preparation, and providing instruments as needed.
- Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of examination rooms, stock supplies, and ensure par levels are maintained.
- Record data collected for procedures performed clearly and accurately on appropriate forms and in medical records.
- Perform other functions, such as maintaining medical records, processing insurance forms, and preparing financial records.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a six (6) month to one (1) year course in an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
- Prior experience and demonstrated competence as a medical assistant preferred.
- Typing 30 wpm required. Basic mathematical aptitude desirable.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
