Medical Office Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant to join our team at Northwell Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide administrative support to our medical staff, ensuring the smooth operation of our clinical services.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare patients for physician examinations, administering and recording laboratory tests as required.
- Coordinate the organization of patient needs, including preparing and organizing patient clinic charts.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to implement plans for patient care, recording patient history for medical staff review.
- Perform measurement and screening procedures, including height, weight, head circumference, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, audiometry, and vision testing.
- Collect and process blood specimens, completing requisitions, labeling, and routing specimens according to standard procedure.
- Assist physicians and nurses with special procedures and examinations, maintaining orderliness and cleanliness of examination rooms.
- Ensure accurate and clear recording of data collected for procedures performed, maintaining medical records and processing insurance forms.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a six (6) month to one (1) year course in an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
- Prior experience and demonstrated competence as a medical assistant preferred.
- Typing 30 wpm required.
- Basic mathematical aptitude desirable.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
