Dillard-Jones is seeking a skilled Construction Estimator to join our team. As a key member of our pre-construction operations, you will play a crucial role in bringing projects from architecture to construction.
Key Responsibilities- Pre-Construction Support: Assist the Construction Operations Manager in pre-construction operations, including delivering initial project estimates to the Project Manager and performing construction administration throughout the project lifecycle.
- Estimating and Bidding: Compile construction estimates, review drawings and specifications for take-off quantities and material call-outs, and solicit material suppliers and subcontractors for bids.
- Vendor Management: Identify and select vendors and subcontractors to ensure cost competitiveness, reliability, quality, and capability.
- Buyout and Pricing: Assist with buyouts and resolve pricing-related issues pertaining to subcontractor's job costs and materials.
- Project Handoff: Perform effective project handoff to assigned Project Manager at construction start.
- Cost Estimating Tools: Maintain cost estimating tools, including databases, spreadsheets, and other computer-based applications, to keep updated information on past performance and industry standards.
- Product Research: Assist with product research, training, and education relating to new products, materials, or methods to be used.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years' experience in residential or commercial estimating.
- Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret construction drawings; strong understanding of residential building code and ability to write detailed construction specifications; meticulous and precise approach; quality-conscious and thorough; ability to work tight deadlines at a fast pace while still being detail-oriented; excellent organizational and planning skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and MS Excel.
