We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Care Practitioner I to join our team at St. Joseph's Medical Center, a member of CommonSpirit Health. As a Respiratory Care Practitioner, you will play a critical role in providing optimum respiratory care for patients with respiratory disorders and performing therapy as ordered by physicians.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides respiratory care for patients of all ages, including neonates, infants, children, and adults.
  • Performs therapy as ordered by physicians, including oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitors patients' respiratory status and reports any changes or concerns to physicians.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Acts as relief shift supervisor when required, ensuring smooth operation of the respiratory care department.
  • Maintains department productivity levels by monitoring workloads throughout the shift.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a two-year American Medical Association-approved Respiratory Therapy Program.
  • Current California License as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) RRT credential.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Card from the American Heart Association.
  • NRP and Stable certification required to work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience in acute care.
  • Experience with nitric oxide use in the NICU.
  • Experience in intubations, arterial puncture, arterial line draws, and high-frequency ventilation.
  • Member of the American Association of Respiratory Therapists and California Society of Respiratory Therapists.
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
