A leading manufacturing company is seeking a Quality Laboratory Technician to join their team in Holmdel, New Jersey. This contract-to-hire opportunity offers a competitive pay rate and a 2nd shift schedule from 2:30 pm to 11:15 pm.

Job Summary:

The Quality Laboratory Technician will work closely with Manufacturing and the Customer Base to ensure that customer quality expectations are met or exceeded. This role will oversee the day-to-day activities of the Raw Material and In-Process Bulk Laboratories.

Responsibilities:

  • Bulk and Oil:
    • Test samples submitted by the Bulk Supply Specialist for approval. If rejected, issue a nonconformance report and notify Customer Service, purchasing, and the customer.
    • Send customer samples to the customer.
    • Maintain Certificates of Analysis (C of A) for bulk that CEI does not manufacture.
  • Bulk:
    • Prepare dyes for a percent solution formula.
    • Provide the correct specification to add color.
    • Provide specifications to the Compounder to color batches.
    • Get a sample of the finished batch from the Compounder to test for pH, viscosity, odor, color, and appearance.
    • Determine if the sample matches the specification. If rejected, issue a nonconformance report and notify Customer Service, purchasing, and the customer.
  • Generate C of A:
    • Generate Certificates of Analysis for any bulk that leaves the building.
  • Test Alcohol:
    • Test alcohol from the truck for color, odor, and appearance to standard before it's pumped into the holding tank.
  • Retest Bulk:
    • Retest bulk as needed for color, odor, and appearance and change status in AS400 as needed.
    • Note nonconformances to Customer Service and the customer via nonconformance report.
  • Write NCMRs:
    • Write nonconformance reports for non-conforming and expired raw materials.
  • Maintain Standards:
    • Maintain standards and samples for 5 years.
  • Enforce cGMPs:
    • Enforce Current Good Manufacturing Procedures (cGMP's) and company policies.
  • Perform Other Duties:
    • Perform other duties as needed or assigned.
  • Recertify:
    • Recertify to be a certified nose each year via R&D designed test.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree required, Bachelor's degree in applied science preferred.
  • 1 year experience in a lab setting required if you have an Associate or Bachelor's degree in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, or related industry in Quality Assurance/Quality Control.
  • 3 to 5 years experience in a lab setting required if you have a High School or GED equivalent in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, or related industry in Quality Assurance/Quality Control.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to use a counting scale and RF Scanner.
  • Knowledge of computers and programs contained within Microsoft Office, AS 400, various customer databases (i.e. SAP, Interspec) QCBD.
  • Able to participate in a team-oriented environment, willingness to assist and train others.
  • Demonstrate safe behavior and support department/plant Safety goals in a continuous improvement process.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including overtime, weekends before and after schedule as needed.
  • Must be comfortable directing other people.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English, a plus.
