Smiths Interconnect is a leading provider of technically differentiated electronic components, subsystems, microwave, and radio frequency products that connect, protect and control critical applications in various markets.

We are seeking a Quality Engineer to support our Kansas City site, driving quality improvement and supporting initiatives across the Connectors business unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with site leadership on quality analytics and process improvements.
  • Support the implementation of quality and operational initiatives on site and within the region.
  • Facilitate and lead site MRB and supplier return processes.
  • Perform contract reviews for quality requirements prior to customer order acceptance.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement teams using quality process methodologies.
  • Support global supplier quality and development in resolving supplier issues.
  • Assist with incoming, in-process, and final inspections as needed.
  • Perform first article inspections and support customer source inspections as needed.
  • Support and participate in local site quality management system audits.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to close audit findings and drive root cause and corrective action.

Requirements

  • Inspection experience preferred.
  • Degree in engineering (industrial, mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing) preferred.
  • 1+ years of working experience (including internships).
  • Data analytical ability.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Knowledge and experience in root cause analysis.
  • Ability to report on complex subjects in a concise manner.
  • Six sigma knowledge desired.
  • Strong technical acumen and a desire to learn and work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent English language communication skills (spoken and written).
  • Spanish speaking a plus.
