Job Overview

Position: Year-Round Lifeguard at Outdoor Pool

Reports to: Head Lifeguard/Pool Manager/Aquatics Supervisor

Compensation: Competitive hourly wage


SUMMARY: Under general oversight, this role is crucial in safeguarding visitors at an aquatic facility by proactively preventing and addressing emergencies.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Continuously monitors patrons within the facility; responds swiftly and appropriately to ensure the safety of all individuals during emergencies.
  2. Administers emergency care and treatment as necessary until professional medical assistance arrives.
  3. Maintains a professional demeanor and appearance at all times, ensuring a high level of customer service.
  4. Completes various maintenance tasks as assigned to uphold a clean and secure environment.
  5. Documents and maintains relevant activity reports.
  6. Undertakes miscellaneous job-related tasks as required.
  7. Participates in mandatory monthly training sessions to remain proficient in skills.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must be at least 15 years of age before commencing employment.


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations.
  • Proficiency in lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.
  • Capability to pass a pre-employment physical skills assessment as mandated by the department.
  • Ability to complete routine administrative documentation.
  • Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical protocols.
  • Capacity to follow both verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Understanding of customer service standards and practices.

A current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguarding is preferred. Training is available at no cost for candidates who successfully complete the interview and swimming evaluation process.
